Great historical dam with amazing stone masonry structures, built-in 1906 for supply drinking water to Sydney. It was nice to walk across the bridge, to see pump house, water coming out at the basement, and beautiful natural views. Also there is a picnic area with gardens, kids play areas and BBQ facilities.
A great old sandstone Dam with beautiful surrounding waters and landscape makes for great selfies!
As we drove up the sealed road towards the dam, you will first see a very beautiful park with park benches and electric bbq pits where you can have a picnic and a great time. There are clean toilets as well.
We drove slightly further and parked near the dam. What a beautiful and tranquil place. Easy access and walk along the dam for everyone.
Nice park and very interesting dam with a bit of history. The Dam has been used since the early 1900s and primarily serves as a reservoir for storing drinking water for the Illawarra and Sydney regions. The park featured gardens, bushwalks and places for picnics.
The view from the damn is beautiful, really breathe taking. Only went for sight seeing so can't comment on facilities. It does have picnic tables and toliet blocks on site so you could make a day of it.
Accessibility: I found it very difficult to find information on the accessibility of the dam.
Eventually, I found something saying it is wheelchair accessible and it is... as long as you know where you're going!
Don't park in any of the parking lots near the picnic area. It's a steep walk down a massive flight of stairs to get there if you do. If you keep a look out, you will find signs pointing to the damn and another very small parking lot right next to the dam wall. Keep in mind there are only about 10 spots for cars, and the road down is two-way and very narrow.
Once there and parked, it's a loose rock/hard gravel parking lot, then large sandstone blocks for the dan wall. I had no trouble walking from one end of the wall to the other with my walking stick.
Great historical vista. Ample parking. Closes around 4pm subject to daylight savings changes.
Very well manicured green arras, clean air and quiet. There are toilets and a playground for kids.
Great place for a quite walk. Went with the Boyz. A must visit for family.
Families, friends, students, etc., can visit. Weekend spot with barbecue place, restrooms, playground, and walking trails. Beautiful view with dam and gardens.
